We have partnered with the Princes Trust since 2014 delivering week long workshops for 18-25 year olds who aren’t in work or education and have an interest in design and making. Our members deliver the workshops and offer follow on work experience opportunities for the young people.
This Autumn we delivered our second workshop of the year, Get Started in Product Design, with a focus on sustainability. Read on to learn more about the project and the outcomes.
From working with bio materials to screen print on canvas, to crafting 3D models to scan and animate through software, the group worked with members to experience different ways of thinking and developing ideas as well as different processes. The week serves as an introduction to new techniques and industries to the young people so they might go on an pursue a career in these areas. After each week Makerversity also offers work experience opportunities to the young people with member businesses.
A huge thanks to all the members who got involved in this course, devising and delivering workshops;
& Drew Richards for leading on the management of the whole week.
