Makerversity x Venture Studio from Crisis

The Venture Studio from Crisis is here to invest in, build and scale ventures that accelerate the end of homelessness. They do this by:
• Ending homelessness directly through their Changing Lives grant programme
• Supporting and investing in diverse founders who are preventing and ending homelessness at scale
• Building businesses from the ground up, within Crisis and in partnership with others
• Co-designing solutions with Experts by Experience and nurture a community of unusual suspects aligned in our vision to end homelessness

We’re in the final months of our second cohort with Venture Studio from Crisis. We offer Crisis members complimentary membership for 6 months which provides their makers with access to Makerversity’s community of entrepreneurs, workshops, and state-of-the-art making facilities to develop their businesses.

“Our Partnership with Makerversity is providing a fantastic opportunity for maker entrepreneurs we are supporting to access space, equipment and a community of fellow makers in London. Five Venture Studio entrepreneurs have had access to this opportunity; the Makerversity team have been great in setting up workshop inductions and supporting their progress whilst accessing the space. We look forward to more makers in our community taking up this unique opportunity being offered by Makerversity.”

Current member Joana is a visual artist creating installations that encourage audiences to interact and explore spaces in different ways. Joana current installation using lights and mirrors  recently hosted a recent fashion photoshoot. Joana is particularly interested in developing participatory art for neurodiverse children and is seeking collaboration opportunities. You can view Joana’s work on her website

During our recent meeting Joana shared her plans around product creation to support the contemporary and participatory art projects she is working on. Our team will be on hand throughout, ensuring Joana can utilise the various digital and textile workshops available.

Makeversity provide space, facilities and a community to talented entrepreneurs, creators & innovators. If you are interested in joining the community or finding out more about their work email the team.

“We know that we will not achieve the goals set out above alone. This work is going to require an effective cross-sector coalition to support us in this journey. Thank you to our incredible advisors and partners who have supported us so far, on our pioneering journey to find and feed the ideas that will help us to end homelessness for good. If you want to help us on our mission to end homelessness — whether you’re a startup with a product or service that could end homelessness or a funder who can help us widen the impact of our work — get in touch.”
