As the poet of the 21st century will.i.am once said, “waste isn’t waste until we waste it.”
In the spirit of turning ‘trash’ into treasure, we are sharing a collection of open-source material recipes from Materiom’s recipe book: bio-plastics and composites you can make from the food waste in your bin, then dissolve in your sink once used.
In this workshop, we will use our digital library of open-source material recipes to teach you the ins and outs of making sustainable materials using locally abundant nutrients and life-friendly chemistry. You’ll be able to get hands-on and experiment with making your own materials using nothing more than the ingredients and kit found in your kitchen.
Materiom is a global community of designers, artists and scientists. Our mission is to enable everyone, everywhere to participate in the next generation of materials. Collectively, we’re striving for a world where plastics and composites nourish living systems and where global supply chains are replaced by local nutrient networks that replenish this amazing planet we all call home.
