Shaping New Models : Controversial Design

Saturday 24th November 2018, 10:30 — 19:00

Morning Talk 5£/Afternoon Workshop 5£/Special All-day ticket 10£

From periods to sex toys through to alternatives to burial, controversial design allows us to break down taboos around sex, food and death. This one day event led by Mara Pezzotta & Gianni Arduini invites you to challenge and subvert the way we consider these topics and design and consider them from a new angle.

PANEL TALKS | 10.30 – 13.10 – A discussion around design linked to sex, death and food, led by Mara Pezzotta & Gianni Arduini (Pinximonio, vibrator set as home décor) with Roxanne Brennen (DiningToys, tableware used for sensual activities), and Anna Citelli & Raoul Bretzel (Capsula Mundi, redesign of the funeral urn)

WORKSHOP | 14.00 – 18 .30 – Interactive mentorship session with speakers to develop controversially designed products, through 12 design briefs around the themes of food, sexuality and death. Open to all regardless of design experience, from students and designers to researchers and companies. The results of this session will become part of the upcoming book ‘Controversial Design’. Each workshop participant will receive a copy by May 2019.

Come look at the products developed by our speakers around the concept of controversial design, including Pinximonio, DiningToys, and CapsulaMundi
