Queer Health Late
Saturday 22nd February, 6pm-8pm, River Rooms
Somerset House (New Wing Reception, Lancaster Place)
The LGBTQI community faces specific challenges around healthcare and mental health. However, there is often a lack of access to basic information and needs. This is an evening to come discuss, educate and share resources together – by the community, for the community.
Open Platform (6pm-6.40pm): Give a shout to community resources surrounding LGBTQI healthcare which deserve a bigger platform.
Skillshare Sessions (6.40pm-7.20pm): Come explore different topics at different tables, from trans healthcare resources to queer sexual health and share experiences.
Maker Demo: Troglo (6.40pm-7.20pm)– an app to track your sex habits and experience. Troglo’s aim is to prevent shame around sex and talking about STDs. Their mission is also educational with a focus on gay and bi men as well as mental wellbeing linked to sex.
Queer Health Mini-Hack (6pm-8pm): If we could “hack” a queer and trans inclusive future for healthcare, what would that look like? Come pitch ideas and, using design thinking imagine what this could lead to via design/tech!
Faciltated by Makerversity Cultural Programme Producer Claire Mead. Claire works in cultural programming to explore the social power of art and design. She also works as in the cultural sector around issues relating to sexuality, gender, sexual health and mental wellbeing, especially as they relate to feminist and LGBTQIA+ issues.
