About this event
Makerversity is a membership community of professional makers and disruptors – all businesses who are making something amazing for a living. We assemble this community in shared co-making spaces for radical and wonderful creative businesses working in ways no one can predict. This means we run physical spaces for a curated community of members, attracting and assembling the leading voices on innovation and future making. In short, we’re a catalyst that fuels the raw talent of today.
Makerversity is a pioneering community of over 300 world-leading entrepreneurs, creators and innovators. Member companies work at the intersection of design, engineering and digital practice, developing ground-breaking solutions for the world’s biggest societal challenges, including climate change, health and inequality. Makerversity supports these early-stage teams with specialist prototyping facilities, affordable workspace, and a business support platform.
Makerversity’s ethos is to ensure all creative talent is included in exciting careers. Makerversity offers two free residencies, Makers with a Mission and Under 25s, enabling those at the beginning of their journey, or without the means to participate, to access opportunity. In addition, Makerversity members provide training for young people through innovative learning programmes. Based at Somerset House, London’s working arts centre, Makerversity members are redefining our future.
Open Studios
Join us on Thursday 22nd September as Makerversity opens up its space, in the basement of the prestigious Somerset House, to the public. The team will give guided tours of the space and its community. A selection of our 300 members will open their studios, workshops, labs and offices to showcase their incredible practices. Our members range from designers, artists, creatives, makers, inventors and entrepreneurs working across themes such as material innovation, health tech and architecture, contemporary craft, digital manufacturing, and product design. They are customer-facing, brand-facing and future-facing. And they are as diverse as they are collaborative – all pushing the frontier of contemporary design and making
