Crafting a Circular Product: Designing with Plastic Waste

Thursday 23rd November 2017

When is it?
Thursday 23rd November. We’re offering two time slots, tickets available here for 14.30 and here for 16.30 (length 90 minutes).

What is it?
We’re really excited to be hosting our latest Makerversity Skillshare with Tom Meades (Meades Design). By showing us how to push the possibilities of recycling (and we don’t just mean putting something in the correct bin), Tom’s workshop will explore the scope of plastic waste as a design material and ask us to think about the ways in which the raw materials of a product can find life beyond their current form.

This workshop is an introduction into the process of converting household plastic waste, specifically recycled Polypropylene (PP) into a valuable material resource. You will get the opportunity to shred and melt down your own household plastic waste and learn the necessary steps into how to form this material into a product.

What experience do I need?
Absolutely none! We’ll walk you through the entire process. Just a healthy interest in design, making, sustainability or materials.

What will I make?
You’ll make and take home a collection of beautiful objects that you made using 100% recycled plastic.
