Biomaterials in Fashion: Embellishments & Print with CQ Studio

Wednesday 20th September 2023

An interactive introductory workshop exploring the use of biomaterials in fashion, focusing on print and embellishment. We will explore a variety of plant polymers, pigments and waste streams to produce a series of embellishments to be used in jewellery or textiles.

Wednesday 20th September 2023

10am – 5pm with lunch break

Workshop includes:

The day will be divided into embellishment and print. First, we will explore producing bio-embellishments using our bespoke moulds and you will have a chance to experiment with adapting the recipes to create your own outcomes. Threads, needles, jewellery attachments and fabric will be available to test your embellishments. Second, we will focus on developing print designs using seaweed and plant sources to create natural pigment screenprint designs. You can test mixing colours and layering prints to achieve desired designs. A T-Shirt or fabric is provided to create your bespoke bio-print

All materials are provided, however, feel free to bring your own t-shirt/bag/fabric for the print portion of the day.
