Makerversity’s COVID–19 response
NHS staff and care workers are in need of protective equipment, Makerversity is uniquely positioned to help in this situation so we are doing everything we can to get them what they need. This includes using our members knowledge of fabrication and distribution to make 3D printed face shields, as well as mobilising our extended network to create a distributed workforce to produce other protective equipment i.e. gowns.
We made a 3D print farm
Makerversity has been filled with over 50 3D printers, allowing us to produce 1,700 face shields per day. Managed by the Makerversity team and members, these are running almost none stop to fulfil demand for PPE.
Makerversity is part of SHIELD, a collaboration of independent UK PPE campaigns, thought leaders and industry experts. SHIELD members are united in their critical missions to provide NHS and care workers with the vital PPE that they require to do their job safely, in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.
